Insulated Pipe Supports

From chilled water lines to LNG systems, every uninsulated pipe support leaks energy and invites condensation. Yangzhou Tianshun’s Insulated Pipe Supports close that gap with a fully integrated thermal break and vapor seal, eliminating cold spots and cutting long-term maintenance. Request a quote, send your pipe and insulation specifications, or order with complete documentation.

This is a specially designed support for insulated piping, engineered to hold insulation made of precision-machined and compression-molded PTFE. There is currently strong demand for this product in the Russian market. In China, the quality of PTFE products varies significantly, making it difficult for international traders to source high-quality items. Our company utilizes premium materials and manufactures supports in a size range from DN20 to DN1200.

An uninsulated support on an otherwise well-insulated pipe is a hole in the system. On a chilled water line, it drips condensation. On a steam line, it radiates heat. On a cryogenic pipe, it pulls moisture out of the air and freezes it solid. The point of an insulated pipe support is to close that gap — to carry the weight of the pipe, contents, and insulation without creating a thermal short circuit between the pipe and the structure.

Yangzhou Tianshun has designed and manufactured insulated pipe supports since 2012 for district cooling networks, industrial steam systems, LNG terminals, and food processing plants worldwide. We build each support as a single load-tested assembly with the insulation block fully integrated, so you don’t have to fabricate the thermal break on site.

How the Thermal Break Works

In a standard pipe shoe, the metal saddle rests directly on the metal base plate. Heat or cold conducts straight through. In an insulated support, a rigid insulation block sits between the two metal parts. The pipe load travels from the saddle into the insulation, and from the insulation into the base plate. At no point does the saddle touch the base plate. The block is machined to match the pipe diameter on one face and the steel base on the other, giving full contact and no point loads.

The block material is selected to stay strong at the design temperature. High-density polyisocyanurate (PIR) works for chilled water and glycol lines. Cellular glass handles cryogenic service down to -196°C and offers near-zero water vapor permeability. Calcium silicate takes steam and hot oil lines up to 650°C. The block’s compressive strength is checked against the full hydrotest load — not just the operating weight — so it won’t crush during commissioning.

A Vapor Barrier That Doesn’t Stop at the Support

On cold pipes, moisture ingress is the biggest long-term threat. Water vapor that penetrates the insulation will eventually condense, freeze, or corrode the pipe surface. Our insulated supports are built with a continuous metal sealing collar around the insulation block. The site crew runs the pipe insulation jacket up to this collar and seals it with adhesive or tape. No gap. No hand-cut patch. Just a clean, inspectable vapor seal that stays tight.

When the Pipe Needs to Slide, the Insulation Stays Put

Many insulated lines expand and contract with temperature. A fixed support would fight that movement. We integrate a low-friction sliding surface directly into the support assembly. A polished stainless steel sheet is bonded to the underside of the insulation block (or to a load distribution plate beneath it). A PTFE or graphite-impregnated pad is bonded to the top of the base plate. The two surfaces slide against each other with a friction coefficient low enough that the pipe’s own thermal forces can overcome it. The entire slide interface is enclosed within the support body, protected from dust, grit, and water, so it stays free-moving for the life of the system.

Built to Match Your Pipe Specification, Not a Catalog

We don’t pick an insulated support off a shelf. Every order is configured to your:

Pipe size and wall thickness

Insulation material and thickness

Operating and design temperatures

Support loads (deadweight, hydrotest, occasional)

Movement requirements (axial slide, fixed anchor, lateral guide)

Environmental exposure (indoor, outdoor, coastal, washdown, fire zone)

The steel components are hot-dip galvanized carbon steel as standard, with stainless steel (304L, 316L) available for corrosive or hygienic applications. All structural welding is performed by qualified welders under certified procedures.

Applications Across Sectors

Chilled water and district cooling: No condensation, no dripping, no CUI.

Steam and hot water: Minimal heat loss, safe touch temperatures, and slide plates that accommodate expansion.

Cryogenic and LNG: Cellular glass insulation blocks, stainless steel bodies, and cold shoes that prevent ice on the structure.

Food and pharmaceutical: Stainless steel, hygienic finishes, encapsulated insulation, and full washdown compatibility.

Oil and gas: Sour service materials, fire-rated options, and vapor-tight designs for coastal and offshore environments.

Documentation That Backs Every Order

Each shipment includes EN 10204 Type 3.1 material certificates, insulation datasheets with compressive strength and thermal conductivity values, dimensional inspection reports, and load test certificates when required. For oil and gas projects, we can provide HIC test reports and NACE compliance documentation. For food-grade applications, surface finish reports and material declarations are standard.

FAQ

Q: Can you match any insulation type and thickness?

A: Yes. We machine the insulation block to your exact pipe OD and insulation thickness, and select the block material for your operating temperature.

Q: Do you supply the complete unit including the slide plate if movement is needed?

A: Yes. We can integrate a PTFE or graphite slide plate at the base, all enclosed within the support body.

Q: How do you prevent the insulation block from getting wet?

A: The block is fully encapsulated in the steel support body, and we provide a metal sealing collar for a continuous vapor barrier connection to the pipe insulation.

Q: What if my pipe is stainless steel or requires hygienic conditions?

A: We fabricate the entire support from 304L or 316L stainless steel with pickled and passivated surfaces, suitable for washdown and food-grade environments.

Q: Can I get a fire-rated version?

A: Yes. We can incorporate passive fire protection materials rated for cellulosic or jet fire exposure, maintaining load-bearing integrity for the required period.

An insulated pipe support is a small component in a large project, but a failed one — crushed insulation, a split vapor barrier, a seized slide plate — can force an unplanned shutdown. We’ve been making these supports for over a decade, shipping to more than 45 countries, with over 70% of our business coming from repeat customers. That record exists because we treat every support as an engineered assembly, not a stock item. Send us your pipe schedule and insulation spec. We’ll return a dimensioned proposal and a firm price within a day.
