A pipe that expands and contracts under temperature changes needs to move at its supports. A pipe that must stay insulated needs an unbroken thermal envelope. Satisfying both requirements at the same support point usually means installing a separate slide plate and then cutting insulation around it on site — a sequence that leaves room for misalignment, compressed insulation, and an unreliable vapor seal. A pre-insulated pipe slide support solves this by integrating the sliding mechanism and the insulation block into a single, factory-assembled unit that arrives on site ready to accept the pipe and the adjacent insulation.

How the Sliding and Insulating Functions Work Together

The support body contains a rigid, high-density insulation block that transfers the pipe load from the saddle down to the base plate. No metal touches metal through the load path: the insulation itself acts as the thermal break. Beneath the insulation block, a low-friction sliding pair is precisely positioned during fabrication.


The upper sliding component is a polished stainless steel sheet bonded to the underside of the insulation block or to an intermediate load-spreading plate.

The lower sliding component is a PTFE or graphite-impregnated pad fixed to the top of the steel base plate.

The entire slide interface is enclosed within the support body, protected from construction dust, wind-blown grit, and moisture that could increase friction or cause corrosion over time.


The slide surface area and travel length are calculated from your pipe stress analysis data. We add a generous margin beyond the maximum expected displacement, so even an unusual transient won’t push the support beyond its designed range.


Insulation That Performs at Your Operating Temperature

The insulation block material is selected for the specific thermal conditions of your line, not picked from a one-size-fits-all stock. Our standard material options include:

High-density PIR (polyisocyanurate): for chilled water, brine, and cold services down to -50°C.

Cellular glass: for cryogenic applications down to -196°C where moisture impermeability is critical.

Calcium silicate: for steam, hot oil, and process lines up to 650°C.

Perlite-based or microporous boards: for applications requiring very low thermal conductivity at extreme temperatures.

Every block is machined to match the pipe diameter and the insulation thickness specified for the project. Its compressive strength is verified against the full hydrotest load, not just the operating weight, to prevent crushing during commissioning.


A Vapor Barrier That Doesn’t Get Interrupted

The metal shoe body is fabricated with an integrated sealing flange. When the site crew installs the pipe insulation and outer cladding, they bring the vapor barrier directly to this flange and seal it with adhesive or tape. The result is a continuous, inspectable envelope that goes straight through the support location — no gaps, no hand-cut patches, no reliance on site-applied mastic alone.
