Base Mounted Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports

Field-fabricating insulation around pipe supports creates weak points in any pre-insulated system. Yangzhou Tianshun’s Base Mounted Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports arrive as a single factory-built unit with a fully encapsulated insulation block, integrated vapor barrier, and optional slide plates — cutting site labor, eliminating thermal bridges, and speeding up installation. In a pre-insulated piping project — district heating, cooling networks, or industrial hot and cold lines — the insulation system is only as strong as its weakest point. The support locations are usually that weak point. Field-fabricating insulation around a pipe shoe, cutting block material to size, and sealing the vapor barrier in awkward positions takes time, depends heavily on the skill of the installer, and is difficult to inspect properly once the cladding goes on.

Base Mounted Pre-Insulated Pipe Supports eliminate that site work. The load-bearing insulation block is factory-bonded inside the metal support body and sealed within a continuous jacket before it ever leaves our plant. The assembly arrives on site as a single, ready-to-install unit: bolt it to the foundation or steelwork, lay the pipe, and connect the adjacent pipe insulation directly to the support's built-in sealing collar. We have been manufacturing these supports at our Yangzhou facility since 2012, for projects where consistency, speed, and long-term insulation performance are non-negotiable.

What You Get in One Factory-Built Assembly

Each Base Mounted Pre-Insulated Pipe Support consists of three integrated layers:

A rigid steel base plate with pre-drilled anchor bolt holes, sized to your structural loading and seismic requirements.

A high-density insulation block, chosen for the operating temperature, fully captured within the metal body. For hot services up to 140°C, we typically use high-density polyurethane (PUR) or polyisocyanurate (PIR). For chilled water and sub-zero applications, closed-cell cellular glass or PIR with a low-temperature service rating is used.

A pipe cradle or saddle that distributes the load into the insulation block, mechanically fixed to prevent rotation or lifting. The cradle is designed with a radius matching the pipe’s outer diameter and includes a protective liner to prevent coating damage.

The entire metal assembly is hot-dip galvanized as standard, with stainless steel available for corrosive environments. Because the insulation block is bonded under controlled factory conditions, the compressive load path is perfectly perpendicular, and there are no air gaps that would allow convective heat loss or moisture migration over time.

No Thermal Bridges, No Vapor Leaks

The defining feature of this support is that the steel base plate and the pipe cradle never touch. The insulation block bears the full pipe weight and acts as a thermal break. On a cold pipe, that means no frost forms on the base plate or the structural steel beneath it. On a hot pipe, it means no heat is lost to the foundation.

For the vapor barrier, we fabricate the support with an integrated metal sealing flange around the perimeter. The site-applied pipe insulation jacket — whether it’s a spiral-wound metal sheet or a heat-shrink sleeve — butts up against this flange and is sealed with adhesive or tape, creating a continuous, inspectable vapor seal. We also pre-cut the secondary insulation around the support body so that site crews don’t have to modify insulation segments on the fly.

When Movement Needs to Happen at the Support

In many pre-insulated lines, the pipe needs to slide through the support as it expands and contracts. We can integrate a low-friction sliding surface into the base mounted support without compromising the insulation. A polished stainless steel sheet is bonded to the underside of the insulation block, paired with a PTFE or graphite pad on the top of the base plate. The entire slide assembly is enclosed within the sealed support body, so no dust or moisture can reach the sliding surfaces. The design movement range is calculated to match your pipe stress analysis, with a generous safety margin.

Documentation That Matches the Quality of the Product

Every pre-insulated support order from Tianshun includes:

EN 10204 Type 3.1 material certificates for all structural steel and bolting.

Insulation material datasheets listing thermal conductivity, compressive strength, and water vapor permeability at the design temperature.

Dimensional inspection reports confirming block thickness, base plate dimensions, and the overall height and alignment of the assembly.

Factory production records showing environmental conditions during bonding and curing, which are critical for long-term adhesion integrity.

Typical Applications

District heating and cooling networks, where pre-insulated bonded pipe systems are standard

Buried and aboveground pre-insulated pipe racks in industrial plants

LNG and cryogenic piping where a factory-sealed vapor barrier significantly reduces commissioning delays

Food and pharmaceutical facilities requiring hygienic, cleanable support surfaces

Any project where reducing on-site insulation labor is a measurable cost and schedule benefit

Why Choose Tianshun for Pre-Insulated Supports?

We don’t treat the insulation as an afterthought and we don’t simply stuff a block into a standard shoe. Our in-house engineering team takes your pipe sizes, insulation specifications, and structural loads, and configures each support so that the insulation block is working within its allowable compressive stress, the vapor barrier can be executed by the site crew without improvisation, and the base plate matches your civil or structural steel arrangement. This design-first approach, combined with our 14 years of experience and a repeat-order rate above 70%, ensures you get a support that keeps the heat where it belongs and the condensation out.

FAQ

Q: Can the insulation block be replaced if it’s damaged?

A: It is bonded and encapsulated, making field replacement impractical. We recommend ordering a spare assembly for critical locations. The robust steel body minimizes the risk of damage during handling.

Q: What temperature range do these supports cover?

A: From -196°C to +140°C for standard PIR/cellular glass combinations. For higher temperatures, calcium silicate blocks can be used.

Q: Do I need to provide my own slide plate?

A: No. We can integrate the slide plate during fabrication, and the sliding surface remains sealed inside the support body.

Q: How do I seal the pipe insulation to your support?

A: We provide a metal sealing collar all around the support. Your site team simply butts the pipe insulation jacket up to this collar and seals it with site-standard adhesive tape or mastic.

Q: What standards apply?

A: Steel fabrication to MSS SP-58/69. Insulation blocks comply with EN 14305 (cellular glass) or EN 13165 (PUR/PIR). We can also meet specific project codes like EN 253 for district heating pipes.
