Configurations range from simple single-axial units to complex tied, universal, hinged, and pressure-balanced designs that contain pressure thrust or restrict movement to specific planes. Bellows are typically formed from 304, 321, or 316L stainless steel, with high-alloy options such as Inconel or Hastelloy available for corrosive or high-temperature service. Rubber Expansion Joints

Rubber expansion joints offer a lightweight, vibration-damping alternative to metal units for lower-pressure applications. Constructed from reinforced synthetic rubber such as EPDM, NBR, neoprene, or PTFE-lined variants, they absorb thermal movement, reduce structure-borne noise, and compensate for misalignment between piping and equipment. They are widely used in water treatment, HVAC, pumping stations, and chemical transfer lines where corrosion resistance and shock absorption are priorities.

Fabric Expansion Joints

Fabric or non-metallic expansion joints are designed primarily for low-pressure ductwork and flue gas systems operating at high temperatures. They consist of multiple layers of high-temperature fabrics, insulation, and sealing materials framed by metal or steelwork.
